7 Red and Wine Lip Colors for Pale Skin

Oh red and wine lipsticks, you are so tricky for us pale girls. What looks good on the masses can look clownish, orange-ish, or garish on us. But they are so beautiful, glamorous and sexy. I have quite a few lip colors in reds and wines that I love.

Here's the lineup on my skin, which is cool-toned

Here are a few of my favorites:

This is a nice, creamy formula that shows up more wine-colored on my cool-toned skin. It has just a hint of shimmer, and is perfect for a night out on the town!

I'm pretty sure that the saleswoman at Neimans was ready to kill me when she helped me find this one. I was on a mission to find Estee Lauder's Extravagant Berry, which was making the rounds all over Pinterest over last holiday. Gorgeous, isn't it?

I knew it wasn't going to happen when the Estee Lauder lady gave me a confused look. Alas, it was seasonal. So then I embarked on a journey of finding something I liked just as much. About 23 lipsticks later, I found Armani's d'Armani #400. It is stunning. So far I've worn it to a wedding and date night with the hubby. It's gorgeous.

I love the color, it is very rich and bold. My only gripe is that it has no stay power and slips and slides all over my lips. And when it is a bold color and fair skin, it becomes really obvious. So my advice: don't wear it on a windy day or if you're going to eat a lot.

This is a stunning scarlet color, with a touch of shimmer. It stays pretty well for lip gloss, and is a great choice for a night out with girls, sipping sangria. YUM.

This is one of my favorites! Nothing makes me feel more glam than sliding Mac Dubonnet across my lips. It is a beautiful red against pale skin, especially when paired with a black outfit. It's a stunning, classic look.

This is a bold, but beautiful look. It borders on a rust color, and is the perfect fall color. Just staring at a glob of it on the end of the applicator makes me want to run through a pile of leaves, or sip on a pumpkin spice latte. It would be especially stunning if contrasted with clothing in gorgeous fall colors such as yellows, greens, burgundies and purples.

I'm so in love with both this color and this product. This product is aptly named as "butter." It is like butter, sliding smoothly across your lips and having that perfect sheen: not to wet so that it looks like gloss, but more shine than lipstick. Basically, that "just licked my lips" look. The color is a beautiful wash of sheer red. I would wear this on a fun night out with friends, or, for you non-single gals, a fun, casual first date.

I'd love to hear from you! What are your favorite reds and wines for pale skin?
